Downtown Jacksonville's Changing Streets
The 12-story Hotel Mason, located on the corner of Julia Street and Bay Street, opened in Jacksonville in 1913. It was sold and renamed the Mayflower Hotel in 1929. The Mayflower Hotel and other buildings were demolished in the late 1970s to make room the the Southern Bell Tower, now called the TIAA Bank Center.
