Description

Montgomery Building, Lake City, FL.

Lake City is the county seat of Columbia County. Columbia County owns the Montgomery Building on Hernando Street. Fifty years ago it served as City Hall. The building was constructed in 1940 as a District Office for the Florida Department of Transportation. Formerly it also served as the Lake City Hall. It now provides office space for the Veterans Service Office and the American Red Cross. Some records are stored there. Some surplus funds were used for a new roof and repair of the brick walls.
