Louise Freshman Brown is originally from New York. A former Professor of Art at the University of North Florida, Brown is the recipient of the Outstanding Faculty Scholarship Award (2005) and the Distinguished Professor Award (2007). Her art is part of the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville Permanent Collection, among many others. As an artist, the colors and beauty of the Florida landscape inspired her. Floridian flora is found throughout Brown’s works. Brown partially credits her admiration of landscape in her artistic pieces to her car rides to Miami, FL. Her art reflects a mixture of world events and interactions between humans and nature. Brown’s mixed-media style is mainly realism and abstraction. In Tubes with Flowers, the artist’s style fragments her natural surroundings and presents them with a new perspective and life.
