Description

coloniaLab is an experimental workshop for the collaborative electronic edition of manuscript and rare print texts related to colonial Latin America. We seek to produce high–quality textual scholarship, pose theoretical and practical questions related to the edition of colonial–era texts, and develop strategies for preparing a new generation of Humanities scholars to engage with the complex textual history of Latin America. In this presentation, current student collaborators will discuss their work on two coloniaLab projects, our edition of the Compendio histórico (1799) Compendio histórico (1799) and Carlos Enriques Clerque and the Narborough Expedition to Chile (1669-1671): A Critical Edition of Essential Documents. They will discuss their work transcribing and encoding manuscript materials related to these projects, and will reflect on the relevance of this work for their future academic and professional plans.
