In 1936/37 the existing brick building Archer High School Gymnasium was constructed ... and was originally the gymnasium for the old Archer High School. lot has changed since the late 1930s. There are no hoops in the building anymore. In fact, other than the gymnasium, there is no more school. The three-story brick building that was Archer High School was demolished in the early 1970s, leaving behind only the gym, which was built in 1937 by the federal Works Progress Administration.
On 2nd August 2011, the gym was reopened as the Archer Community Center after about eight years of planning, fundraising and reconstruction. Mrs. Lopez was a driving force behind the restoration of the Archer Community Center since 2003. Archer High School later became Archer Elementary school.
