Ogden School Marker , Bland FL
The Odgen School was built by the Alachua County School Board, just one mile west of from where the marker is located. This was to educate the African American children in the Bland Community. It started with grades 1-6 in one room and one teacher. The school building collapsed and was removed. The Ogden students recall an education based on respect, discipline and a conviction that education was a way to better life.
It was sponsored by the Alachua County Historical Commission and the Florida Department of State.
