    Description

The Andrew Farkas Library Resources Endowment bears his name in recognition of his role as founding director of the Thomas G. Carpenter Library. This fund was established by alumni, faculty, staff and friends to provide ongoing support for the acquisition of library materials. It will ensure that future generations of UNF students and faculty have resources to support their learning and scholarship.

Under the leadership of the founding director, Andrew Farkas, the Library opened on October 2, 1972 with 100,000 volumes. Since then, the Library has grown to more than 800,000 volumes, a major expansion and renovations to increase seating, electrical connections and access to computers. Mr. Farkas’s commitment and dedication helped make the Library what it is today. He received the Distinguished Professor Award in 1991 and upon his retirement, the University named him Director Emeritus.
