Ladnier’s Reincantations (2002) uses abstract art to portray the September 11, 2001 attacks. The title refers to the work's “incantation,” which means a word or phrase that conjures power and spirit—in this case, adding the prefix “re” points to repetition. On the canvas, overlapping color shades blend to form new shades. The colors create swirling clouds that expand across the canvas. Ladnier further explores September 11, 2001, in his 2010 exhibition "9/11: An Elegy,” presented at the University of North Florida's Lufrano Intercultural Gallery.
