Artist Biographical Information

Roy C. Craven (1924-1996) was the founding director of the University Gallery at the University of Florida. He received his BA in Fine Art in 1949 from the University of Chattanooga and studied at the Arts Student League under Yasuo Kuniyoshi and George Grosz. He received a Senior Research Fulbright to India in 1963. He was an artist who used the mediums of painting, sculpture, and photography. Craven was also the author of or contributor to over a dozen books on the subjects of art of India and Mayan ceremonial sites, as well as exhibit catalogs. https://arts.ufl.edu/directory/profile/119505
