Artist Biographical Information
Giovanni Battista Salvi de Sassoferrato was an Italian Baroque painter who specialized in sweet devotional artwork in the manner of Raphael. He was also active as a copyist and concentrated on producing multiple copies of various styles of devotional images for private patrons. His copying style was highly free and individualistic, and he often modified the original compositions or their dimensions rather than slavishly copy.
