Artist Biographical Information
William Rudolf Jordan was a German genre painter, illustrator, etcher, and art teacher. In 1837, he became a member of the Prussian Academy of Arts. He graduated from the Kunstakademie in 1840 and started his studio in 1848. He is considered one of the founders of a more social aspect and an everyday approach to genre painting. In 1869, he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle and later presented the Order of the Crown and the Commander's Cross in the Order of Vasa.
