Laura Street Trio
Laura Street Trio, Jacksonville, Fl.
The Laura Street Trio is a group of three historic buildings located on and near Laura Street in downtown Jacksonville, Florida. The Trio consists of two perpendicularly-arranged skyscrapers, the Florida Life Building (1908) and the Bisbee Building (1911), plus a third structure, the Old Florida National Bank (or Marble Bank) (1911), which is framed by the other two in a unique pattern. The three buildings, constructed in the wake of the Great Fire of 1901, are architecturally significant, but are currently endangered. The two high rises were designed by Henry John Klutho.
Recently the buildings have been bought by developer Steve Adkins, who has plans to turn the Marble Bank into a high end restaurant. Bisbee Buildings ground floor will be another restaurant, and 9 stories a hotel. Florida Life Building will also be part of the hotel. Entire project will cost $ 40 million.
