Huff Packing House, McIntosh, Fl.
The town of McIntosh sits on highway US 441 between Gainesville and Ocala.
This Huff Packing House was built in 1895, the same year that a devastating freeze hit this area and essentially wiped out the citrus industry. The building is Frame Vernacular in style.
"Buddy" Huff, Jr., was a key player in life in and around McIntosh for many years. He had massive citrus groves. The citrus and vegetable packing operation ran 'til very late at night, so the crates could be loaded on the train for quick shipment. Contributing Building - McIntosh Historic District - National Register of Historic Places NRIS #83003550
