Jesup City Hall, GA. Jesup is a city in Wayne County, Georgia, United States. The population was 9,279 at the 2000 census. The city is the county seat of Wayne County. Although people can only speculate on the origin of the name, Jesup - pronounced "Jess'-up" - may be a reference to General Thomas Sidney Jesup, who fought in the Creek War of 1836. There are a number of historic sites in Jesup. It houses the city and executive offices. Formerly it was the US Post Office.
