Description
Symbols abound in front of the altar at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Jacksonville, Florida. The Chi-Rho monogram combines the first two letters in the Greek "Christos." The Alpha and Omega signify both Jesus and God the Father. The grapes and chalice symbolize Holy Communion. And the IHS is short for "By This Sign, Conquer."
