On the front is a note written to Miss Allie Nooe that reads:
Write again soon. I (Bessie) have been real sick, but my cold is almost well now. Your letter received and we have all held another consultation, and the decision is that you must not give out your visit to us. There will be no Christmas in Jacksonville without your usual presence. Nettie, Emma and all your friends are continually asking “When will Allie be here.” Now don’t disappoint us. Know you are having a nice time with the folks at Statesville. Our love to them all and much for yourself from Essie and Bessie
