Abstract

Formerly known as SOARS, ARISE and U-GLIDE, the Student Research Symposium is a multi-disciplinary conference series at the University of North Florida (UNF) in which undergraduate and graduate students showcase their research projects during the fall, spring and summer semesters. Research at UNF includes inquiry and investigation in all forms. Communication of knowledge produced through student research can be presented in poster format or as an oral presentation at the Student Research Symposium in a welcoming environment. This is an excellent opportunity for students to refine their presentation skills through interaction with peers and faculty as they explain their projects, which can be in various stages of development. This year’s symposium includes 212 presentations by students from across the University. We have 172 poster presentations across three sessions with Digital Humanities Institute Showcase presentations integrated into Sessions II and III. In addition, we have 38 oral presentations across four sessions, with UNF - Mayo Clinic Undergraduate Biomedical Research Internship presentations integrated throughout all the sessions. We gratefully acknowledge and thank the faculty mentors who work with undergraduate and graduate students at UNF. Faculty members who offer research experiences provide students an opportunity to expand their intellect, strengthen their résumés and enhance their marketable skills beyond traditional classroom activities. More than 85 faculty from across the University mentored students who are presenting at the Spring 2026 Student Research Symposium. The symposium will conclude with a keynote address by Dr. Sruti Rayoprolu, an associate scientist at the University of Florida and a UNF alumnae (Bachelor of Science in Biology – Class of 2010), in which she will talk about her journey from an undergraduate researcher to her present role as a neuroscientist. It is exciting to welcome one of our own back to The Nest! Congratulations to all the student presenters and their faculty mentors!
