Description
Dr. Wu is going to share with the audience his thought, design and experience of conducting a project that connected the digital data with the humanity studies as he asked students to use their smart phones to take photos of Chinese characters they saw in daily life. They can later translate these words with the help of OCR technology and started to study its cultural significance. They will share their findings with other UNF students and language partners from the host university. This project successfully enlarged students capability of inquiring and analyzing cultural information encountered in daily life, thus enabled them to move the locus of knowledge from the textbook to a much broader network made of texts, speeches and videos.
Dr. Wu is the faculty mentor and project leader.
This will be a PPT presentation, which needs a computer and a projector.
