Abstract
Achievement gaps persist across the nation among students with disabilities and African American students and continues to present a challenge in education. This qualitative Participatory Action Research (PAR) study examined how community members perceived the causes of these gaps and collaborated to identify potential strategies to address them. Guided by Ecological Systems Theory and Disability Studies in Education, the research engaged community constituents, parents, and caregivers in fostering a shared commitment to improving outcomes for students.
