Abstract
This project presents a six-hour inservice component for elementary teachers dealing with the sexual abuse of children. The program focuses on the three pertinent areas of: the effects on the child; detection, reporting and intervention; and counseling strategies. The program presents content knowledge followed by exercises to build confidence. Exercises
include case studies, small and large group discussion, question and answer task sheets and small group activities. The review of related literature includes the effects of sexual abuse on the child; detection, reporting and intervention procedures; and counseling strategies.
