Description
UNF Carpenter Library, Jacksonville, FL. The Thomas G. Carpenter Library is the library at the University of North Florida. It is named after the university's founding president, Thomas G. Carpenter.
Construction first began on the library in 1978, and the building was completed in 1980. In 2004, $22.5 million four-story addition and renovation project began to handle the university's growing student population.
Dr. Thomas G. Carpenter was the first President of UNF and served from 1969-1980. He was a strong advocate of the Library as a cornerstone in the educational process and saw it develop during his tenure into an invaluable regional and state resource.
The Thomas G. Carpenter Library has many diverse departments and responsibilities. Each area requires specific knowledge and expertise. Administration, Access services, Acquisitions, Serials, E-Resources, Digital Projects and Preservation, Discovery Enhancement , Government Documents, Periodicals, Reference, & Special Collections .
