Description
St Paul AME (African Methodist Episcopal) Church is located in St Augustine, Florida. The red brick building was built in 1904 in the Gothic Revival architectural style. Previous churches for the congregation had been built in 1873 and 1888. St. Paul A.M.E. Church was made famous in St. Augustine's black history by Dr. Martin Luther King speaking there several times. It is the only church in Florida where Dr. King actually preached and then led a demonstration. This is a contributing building on the National Register of Historic Places (NRIS #91000979)
