This building was built in 1876 and housed the office of Quitman Free Press in Quitman, Georgia from 1877-1889. Later it merged with the Quitman Herald, also a local newspaper of Quitman to form the Quitman Press from 1889-1891. The former Quitman Free Press has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of Interior in 1880.
