49th Regiment Iowa Volunteer Infantry Marker, Jacksonville, Fl.
This historical marker is located in the Confederate Park on Phelps St between main St and Hubbard St in Springfield Historical District, Jacksonville.
The 49th Iowa Volunteer Infantry became part of the Second Division of the Seventh Army Corps. They also fought in Cuba. It was mustered out of service in 1899.
The marker reads as :
This tablet marks the camp site of the Forty-Ninth Regiment Iowa Volunteer Infantry, Colonel William G. Dows, commanding, 1898 - 1899 , War with Spain.
