Rose Island Lighthouse
Description
The Rose Island lighthouse is located in Newport, Rhode Island. Activated in 1870, the light was deactivated in 1971. In 1984, the lighthouse was transferred to the city. The Rose Island Lighthouse Foundation restored the lighthouse and in 1992 it was opened to the public. In 1993, the light was again an active aid to navigation.
