The text on the marker reads as :
" In 1843, Enterprise became county seat of Mosquito County organized December 2, 1824, and changed to Orange County in 1845. On Dec. 29, 1854 the part of Orange County east of the St. John's river became Volusia County with Enterprise as County seat. In 1888, when the population of Enterprise was but 800, an election moved the County seat to Deland. This site, where the early courthouse stood, was given by Jacob Brock. "
