Fort San Nicholas Marker, Jacksonville, Fl.
This was a Spanish Colonial fort established in 1740 by Governor Manuel de Montiano, in present day Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida. It was abandoned in 1817.
The marker reads as :
" North of this stood early Spanish fortification -- Fort San Nicholas. Abandoned July 4, 1817."
This marker erected by The Jacksonville Chapter DAR.
