Description
Pinehurst Cottage Rollins College, Winter Park, Fl.
Pinehurst Cottage, currently the oldest building on the Rollins College campus, was the College's second building and its first residential facility. It was built in 1885-86 and designed by G D Rand..Pinehurst Cottage was restored in celebration of its centennial. As the only building remaining from Rollins' founding year, Pinehurst has come to symbolize the early years of both the College and the city of Winter Park, Florida.
Although originally a women’s residence hall, Pinehurst has had a number of different uses over the years. It has been a men’s dormitory, a co-ed dormitory, the home of President Ward, a library, chemistry lab, infirmary and classroom. The 117-year-old structure remains a favorite of students. It houses 20 students who promote academic fulfillment outside the classroom by arranging panels and group discussions.
