Building Name
Gale Hall Rollins College
Description
Gale Hall Rollins College, Winter Park, Fl.
At an approximate cost of $52,000, Gale Hall was constructed in 1936 on the site of the previous tennis courts. This Mediterranean-style residence hall was built in memory of Reverend Sullivan French Gale (1842-1909), founder and charter trustee of Rollins College, organizer and superintendent of the Congregational Home Missionary Society in Florida. Richard Kiehnel designed the 2,918-square-foot residence hall for men.
Gale Hall has housed the X-Club (1939-1943), Phi Delta Theta (1936-1939), Delta Chi, and Alpha Phi Lambda fraternities. The building was slightly renovated in 1970. It is again the home of the X-Club.
