Description
Train Depot , Callahan FL
This is the historic 1880 era Callahan Train Depot in Callahan, Florida, USA. It was built in the 1880s and served the predecessor railroads of CSXT until 1983. When the Savannah, Florida, & Western Rail- road was constructed in 1881 from Waycross, through Callahan, to Jacksonville, a freight depot was built on the other side of the tracks from the original depot and there the two lines served passengers out of the old and freight in the new.
The old train depot now houses the Greater Nassau County Chamber of Commerce and the West Nassau Historical Society. A CSXT Caboose is on display adjacent to the old train depot.
