Mount Zion AME Church
The Mount Zion AME (African Methodist Episcopal) Church is located in Jacksonville, Florida. The church was rebuilt in 1905 after the Great Fire of 1901 destroyed the previous sanctuary. This is a Romanesque Revival style building with arched window and door openings, art-glass windows, a bell tower, contrasting brick quoins, and a crenelated parapet. Previous structures were built in 1870 and 1890. The church was placed on the Florida Black Heritage Trail in 1992. It is also on the National Register of Historic Places (NRIS #92001697).
