Abstract
First-Ear turnover of newly licensed registered nurses is reported as high as 40%-60%. Turnover can be reduced to 10% or less with a nurse residency program. This study compared three best practices within a single health system. The three aims were to determine first-Ear turnover of newly licensed registered nurses for three sites, compare outcomes after one-Ear posthire, and examine intent to stay. Although there were only a few statistically significant differences, the trend was positive for the site with a nurse residency program.
