The former Pierce County Jail is located in Blackshear, Georgia. It was built in 1894 and in use until the 1920's. Although, it's nickname is the "Hanging Jail" due to its high central tower, there are not any recorded hangings at the jail. It is on the National Register of Historic Places (NRIS #80001221).
