Train Depot, Alma GA
Alma, the county seat of Bacon County, is about 25 miles north of Waycross.
A branch of the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad once ran alongside Alma's 1906 depot, at N Dixon and W 11th streets in downtown Alma. The eastern part of the railroad line, between Alma and Brunswick, was abandoned in 1953. The line to the west remained in service until the mid-1980s when it too was abandoned by ACL successor Seaboard System.
