Description
The Lighthouse Inn is located in West Dennis, Massachusetts. The building was constructed in 1855 as a lighthouse and home for the keeper. Known as the Bass River Light, it was operational until 1880. The light was relit in 1881 and continued to operate until 1914. The property was sold in 1917 and again in 1938 when it opened as the Lighthouse Inn. The light was relit again in 1989 as the West Dennis Light. This is one of a few privately owned and operated lighthouses in the United States.
